According to the Mozambican National Meteorological Institute (INAM), Cyclone Eloise is expected to strengthen and intensify into a cyclone over the Mozambique Channel on 21 January and could possibly make landfall in Mozambique on Saturday 23rd of January 2021.

The path of the cyclone has been changing and its impact might be felt from Quelimane stretching to Safala Province. The southern and central part of Mozambique may be affected by the cyclone. The path of the cyclone is forecast to follow the below map, but this has been changing daily.

It is forecast that flooding, damage to property, infrastructure and injury, loss of lives and displacement of communities may occur.

– Remember to disconnect and unplug all electrical appliances.

– Park vehicles under solid shelter.

– Avoid any low-lying areas prone to flooding and do not attempt to drive.

– Most importantly, stay inside and sheltered, clear of windows or openings.
